Dead Again (stylized as DЭДD ДGДIИ ) is the seventh and final studio album by the American gothic metallic band Blazon O Negative, released before the decease of frontman Peter Steele in 2010, and subsequent dissolution of the band. It was released on March xiii, 2007, through record label Steamhammer, a subsidiary of SPV.

Recording [edit]

The ring uses studio drums instead of a drum motorcar for the get-go time since their third album, Encarmine Kisses. Thus, it remains the simply Type O Negative studio album with Johnny Kelly's bodily playing, as he was only "credited" equally the drummer on the three albums prior to Dead Once more.[3]

Content [edit]

The embrace photograph is a portrayal of Grigori Rasputin, the Russian mystic and associate of Tsar Nicholas Ii. The lettering is in a imitation-Cyrillic font.

The vocal "Halloween in Heaven" is a tribute to Dimebag Darrell,[4] who was killed in 2004.

Reception for Expressionless Again was mainly positive, and resulted in the band's highest ever chart positions.[ citation needed ] In the U.s.a., it debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard 200, selling 22,000 copies, selling slightly less than Life is Killing Me.[ten]

The insert of the CD folds out into the shape of a cross with Rasputin'due south caput at the top. The media tray has the words "Снова Мертвый" ("Expressionless Again") visible underneath along with Rasputin'southward autopsy information. The photograph on the back was taken in 1906, showing four young women of the Tsarist family, identified left to correct every bit Thousand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia Nikolaevna.

The bonus tracks were taken from the Symphony for the Devil alive DVD. The anthology was re-released in Feb 2008, with a DVD including alive performances, interviews, and music videos. A split three-LP vinyl box prepare was also released that included several collectors' items, such as a T-shirt, a 12-page booklet, and a DVD disc that contains the aforementioned alive footage and music videos as the Best Buy exclusive DVD, an interview, and the entire album in MP3 format. Two of the vinyl discs are cerise and ane is the standard black. The box itself comes in the ruby version of the encompass art.[11]

Since it was released nether a dissimilar label, Dead Once again is the only studio album to non be included in many of the band'due south compilation releases including 2013's The Complete Roadrunner Collection 1991 - 2003 and 2019's None More Negative boxset.[12] On August 20, 2021, the album was made available again on Spotify and Apple Music through Nuclear Blast despite being originally released through SPV GmbH.[13] [14]

On March 13, 2022 (the 15th anniversary of the anthology'due south release), information technology was appear through social media that Expressionless Once more would receive a reissue on vinyl, CD, and cassette.[xv]
